Steve CohenSpeakers - Business - Negotiation - Steve Cohen is an individual with a personal mission statement: Advance the cause of civility wherever and however possible. With degrees from Brandeis University, Columbia Law School, and Henley Management College (UK), Steve Cohen brings an international perspective to his work as a speaker, trainer, and consultant. His experience in politics, from the precinct level in Boston, to national and international political campaigns and his work as a Washington Lobbyist, have provided Steve a fund of stories about negotiation and conflict resolution at every level. Although he has a legal education and is a member of the bars of Massachusetts and Washington, DC, Steve describes himself as a 'reformed lawyer'. Steve Cohen's background as a commercial real estate developer and manager, as a magazine publisher, and his current career as a mediator and international negotiation trainer and consultant give him a unique perspective on problem-solving in a wide variety of situations. His public speaking career spans nearly three decades, including live television and radio in the United States and Europe as well as keynotes and other presentations for major corporations and associations. Steve's work with healthcare organizations, banks, heavy manufacturers, market research firms, and government agencies in several countries add spice to all his appearances. Steve Cohen's clients include the Polaroid Corporation, Dana Corporation, British Telecoms, Britain's National Health Service, Allied Irish Banks (UK) and many others. Steve consistency gets the highest ratings on evaluation forms from students at the two French business schools where he is on the adjunct faculty. He is a part-time Associate Professor at the University of New Hampshire's graduate program in healthcare management. When Steve Cohen introduces negotiation skills, he normally entitles his presentation Fighting Fires Without Burning Bridges. Within the field of conflict resolution, he can talk on The Seven Pillars of Negotiational Wisdom, Active Listening, The Power of Silence, Eight R's of Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Conflict Resolution Choices, and other topics peculiarly relevant to the problem-solving issues faced by his audience -- e.g. healthcare, purchasing, setting values and prices. Steve is currently about two-thirds of the way through the writing of a doctorate on the public perceptions of the impact of business activities on society's ethical and moral standards in the United States and the United Kingdom.
