Scott Hamilton is the world's most celebrated figure skater. When he was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1997, it wasn't the first time Scott Hamilton had to overcome adversity.

From the start, it seemed as if Hamilton would never have a shot at being one of the best figure skaters of all time. As a boy, he was plagued by an illness that baffled doctors and he appeared destined to remain only a spectator. When his ailment was finally diagnosed correctly, his courage and determination led him to try figure skating. That first taste of the graceful sport brought out the fierce competitor in this pint-sized powerhouse. He immersed himself in skating and went on to become one of its best and most recognizable athletes.

In 1981, he won the first of four consecutive national and world titles. The Olympic gold medal he won in Sarajevo in 1984 was the first claimed by an American male since 1960. His success and popularity led to a longtime association with CBS as a sports analyst.

It is Hamilton's most recent challenge with testicular cancer that has once again endeared him to fans around the globe. His remarkable fight garnered worldwide media attention, not to mention the over 55,000 personal letters and gifts he received from fans. His new book, Landing It: My Life On and Off the Ice was recently released.

Today, Scott Hamilton is cancer-free. He credits his victory over the disease to a positive attitude and willpower. Cancer picked the wrong person in Scott Hamilton. His zest for life and winning attitude are an inspiration to any audience.
