David Weinberger, Ph.D., is a well-known figure in the Web industry and is one of the opinion leaders in the fields of the effect of the Web on how businesses are run, the future of documents, and knowledge management. He publishes an influential web newsletter (JOHO - The Journal of the Hyperlinked Organization), is a technology commentator for National Public Radio's All Things Considered and a columnist for KMWorld and Intranet Design Magazine. He has written for a wide variety of magazines, including Wired, Smithsonian and The New York Times.

Dr. Weinberger has found success inside software companies, as an industry consultant, and as a journalist and writer. He is currently an independent industry consultant and president of Evident Marketing, Inc., a strategic marketing company that helps high tech companies figure out what they do and how to talk about it. He recently co-authored The Cluetrain Manifesto (2000), which started as an on-line document renouncing Internet marketing-as-usual and due to the huge amount of industry buzz, was published as a book earlier this year. He is an elected member of the AIIM Emerging Technology Advisiory Group and has been appointed to the Seybold Conference Advisory Board and the Xplor Business Strategies Advisiory Board.

Previously, under his guidance as VP of Strategic Marketing, Open Text became the first company to provide business application software for use on the intranet. During his 2 ? years there, Open Text went from a $3M/year Canadian search company for technical documentation publishers to a $45M/year leader in collaborative software for the Web listed on NASDAQ.
