"It all happened quickly," said group member Spike Morelli. "The record was on the radio and we were selling out shows everywhere. The street buzz on the band was beginning to have a steamroll effect." Offers from corporate, casino, concert, fair and festival buyers were coming in from all over the world. In a short amount of time, Lil' Elmo and the Cosmos were doing as many as 200 special events per year throughout the United States as well as in Paris, Hong Kong, and the Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway.
The band prides itself on doing the material that the other so-called Oldies bands cannot do. According to keyboard player Steven A. Feller, "Our harmonies allow us to perform songs that make us unique." Lil' Elmo continues to research the Rock 'n' Roll archives in hopes of discovering material that they can showcase to their knowledgeable fans. Lil' Elmo has been featured in the production of numerous television and radio commercials for Cheerios, In and Out Burger, KRLA, and KMPC. They recently shot a television pilot for CBS, starring Michael Damian and Frankie Avalon called "The Romeos." In addition, Lil' Elmo and the Cosmos has won several Doo-Wop competitions and has been featured in the New York Doo-Wop show. Lil' Elmo's accapella version of the National Anthem has been featured as the kickoff to some of America's most prestigious sporting events. In recent years, Lil' Elmo has become a national treasure in the Nevada casino market with yearly performing contracts at Caesar's Palace, The MGM Grand Hotel, The Tropicana Hotel & Resort in Las Vegas and The Eldorado Hotel & Casino in Reno. Their energetic stage shows have consistently packed the show rooms, making them a must see for visitors. The band has continued to grow and change. While other bands come and go, Lil' Elmo has had remarkably little personnel change since it's debut in 1985. Spike Morelli, Steven A. Feller, Larry Spatz, Jackie Turchin, Doug Hodges and Michael Kleid make up Lil' Elmo. (and yes - there is no Lil' Elmo!)
As the Cosmos reputation has continued to gain recognition, they have been requested to open for many major name attractions including Diana Ross, The Righteous Brothers, The Four Tops and The Temptations. Whatever Lil' Elmo and the Cosmos do in the future, the past and it's music is the catalyst that drew this band together and will keep this band rockin'. What Lil' Elmo brings to Oldies music is the energy and feeling of today. Contact us to book Lil' Elmo & the Cosmos for your next party or event! |
