It's nearly impossible to talk about the 1970's without making a mention of KC, otherwise know as Harry Wayne Casey. He claimed four number one hits within the span of a single year, a feat that put him in the same elite club as the Beatles. He was the first white artist to successfully score on the R&B charts, and claimed three Grammies and an American Music Award. His records literally sold millions (75 million to be exact) keeping him on a winning streak and scaling the charts with songs he composed such as kc & the sunshine band concert

  • "That's The Way (I Like It)"
  • "Get Down Tonight"
  • "Rock Your Baby"
  • "Keep It Comin' Love"

Now, the legendary singer is no longer content to discuss his glories in the past tense. KC has now been touring throughout the U.S., Asia, Japan, South America, and Australia. A double CD with 23 tracks entitled "Get Down Live" was released in July 1995, a product of KC's string of successful concerts spanning the globe since 1991. The album features renditions of KC's seventies hits with a nineties spin as well as a few new tracks. The singer has released another album due out later this year entitled "Yummy" which will feature fresh, new material he's been working on for close to a year.

The renewed recognition has led to increasingly high-profile engagements for KC. New Year's Eve 1996 was off to an auspicious beginning, it was spent performing at a private concert for high rollers in Bally's Las Vegas. Mardi Gras '95 features the king of funk as the head-liner at the Endymion Ball in the Superdome in New Orleans, a mammoth, annual black-tie affair. Most recently, the singer had the honor to be the only performer at the exclusive launch party for Nick at Nite's TV Land. Viacom hosted the lavish affair in Hollywood, California, where the guests included TV legends such as Barbara Eden, Dick Van Dyke, Kim Fields and Steve Allen.

In the interim, KC's presence is evident all around the country. The media buzz soon caught on to the disco frenzy and feature segments appeared on VH-1's Eight Track Flashback, Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Geraldo, The Marilu Henner Show, American Journal, Celebrity Countdown, and numerous other TV news features. The Spin Doctors caught boogie fever as well, remaking "That's The Way (I Like It)" on their current album, which resulted in KC being named "Comeback of the Week" in Entertainment Weekly Magazine.

Advertising has been swept up by KC's catchy music as well. General Motors, Burger King, and Aquafresh Australia all secured rights to "That's The Way (I Like It)," Pillsbury wanted to launch a campaign for a new Old El Paso cheese salsa, and choose KC to re-record one of his classics in the form of "I'm Your Cheese Boogie Man." And who can forget the Budweiser ad campaign featuring beer-guzzling ants swaying to "Get Down Tonight."

The future keeps getting brighter for the legend, as he continues to perform for enthusiastic audiences. KC's response to his latest wave of success? "That's The Way (I Like It)!"
