Avalon, who made the transition from "Teen-age Idol" to mature professional, has a career that now spans three generations of music, television and motion pictures. The Philadelphia youth started out as a musician..a trumpet player. He seized every opportunity to enter local amateur contests and won a string of them.

Good enough to make a guest appearance as a trumpet player on The Perry Como and Jackie Gleason television shows, Frankie Avalon was on his way to stardom. A long string of Gold Record million-seller singles and albums, Frankie starred in the highly successful "Beach Party" film series. Dramatic roles in "The Dark," "The Alamo," and "Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea" followed.

His nightclub career has taken him around the world. He continues his night club performances six months out of the year and has appeared on almost every top variety show on television making several guest appearances on dramatic series. In "Grease" Frankie appeared in a cameo role where he sang "Beauty School Dropout."

He considers his greatest personal achievement "being a father." He has four sons and four daughters with his wife Kay, whom he married in 1963. Running a close second to his achievement as a father is success at being a low handicap golfer.
