Singer, songwriter Edwin McCain was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1970.Edwin's vocal abilities were noticed at an early age when he began singing in hischurch choir.  At age twelve, Edwin began playing guitar and continued his desire to be a musician by playing in bands throughout high school. Edwin attended both the University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston while never giving up on the dream to become a professional musician. From his humble beginnings performing on the patios of local restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina, to his current schedule filled with appearances at conferences and concert halls across the country, Edwin now makes over 200 appearances a year.

"McCain's set could have been taped as a VH1 'storytellers’ segment. Before most songs, the South Carolina native told how the tune originated, exhibiting a flair for comedic timing that suggest he could make money onthe standup circuit."

More than that, McCain is a storyteller who gives us something to reflecton, complete with goose-bumps.”  "

McCain cruised through a set that spanned much of his nearly 15-year career, stopping between tunes to share stories about life on the road and the inspirations behind his songs. McCain conversational style is even more laid-back, and down-home than his songwriting, and he romanced the crowd with his subtle way with words and pointed sense of humor."

- Aspen Daily News

Honesty, integrity, and hard work have been the guiding forces throughout McCain's career. He formed the Edwin McCain Band and released Solitude in 1993. A quartet of albums on Lava/Atlantic Records followed, starting with Honor Among Thieves in 1995. Two years later came the breakthrough album Misguided Roses, featuring the Top 10 smash "I'll Be." In 1999, the band released Messenger. The Dianne Warren-penned Top 40 hit "I Could Not Ask for More," which was also featured in the film "Message in a Bottle," drove Messenger to Gold Certification. Edwin's last recording for Lava/Atlantic, Far From Over, was released in 2001.

The sense of freedom and artistic choice that McCain enjoys these days have led him to experiment in a number of different directions. He's collaborating with songwriters from every genre of music; including writing and co-producing an album for Bart Adam Young with rap-rock star Kid Rock.

McCain's no-holds-barred attitude and his natural gift of gab have led him to other opportunities as well. He's hosted a television pilot ("The Acoustic Highway"), a satellite radio show ("The Spectrum" or Sirius Radio), and acted in a feature film (Strike The Tent). McCain's onscreen charm is also evident on "Mile Marker: Stories and Songs from The Acoustic Highway,” a special DVD released in 2002, which compiles material from the span of Edwin's career.

With so much happening in so many directions, you'd think McCain would be harried by it all. Quite to the contrary, he's happier now and more artistically satisfied than ever before. "I really feel like I'm in the pocket right now." He says. "I'm doing what I want, the way I want to do it. This is exactly where I want to be."
